About Broken Spur Inn & Steakhouse

Broken Spur Inn & Steakhouse is a rustic, Western-style inn in Torrey, Utah, offering cozy accommodations and a full-service steakhouse 5 minutes outside of Capitol Reef National Park.

Overview

I led the complete redesign and Webflow build of the Broken Spur Inn & Steakhouse website, delivering the project end-to-end within a one-month timeline. Working closely with the senior marketing director and the Broken Spur team, the goal was to modernize the digital experience while preserving the inn’s authentic Western character and improving the booking journey for travelers.

Problem

The previous WordPress website no longer supported the needs of modern travelers or the business itself. The experience felt outdated, was difficult for the team to maintain, and made it hard for guests to quickly understand lodging options, amenities, dining offerings, and nearby attractions. Key booking information was buried, mobile usability was inconsistent, and the site did not fully leverage Broken Spur’s strongest differentiator—its proximity to Capitol Reef National Park. These issues created friction in trip planning and limited direct bookings.

Solution

I rebuilt the website entirely in Webflow, replacing the outdated platform with a streamlined, booking-focused experience designed around how travelers plan park-centric trips. Large-scale landscape imagery and aerial photography establish location and sense of place immediately, while clear headline messaging reinforces the inn’s role as the ideal basecamp for Capitol Reef. The site architecture was restructured to surface essential information quickly—rooms, amenities, steakhouse, wagons, and nearby attractions—supported by prominent booking CTAs and a simplified availability flow. Warm typography, earthy colors, and Western-inspired details balance modern usability with the inn’s rustic identity. A CMS-driven setup allows the team to easily manage rooms, content, and seasonal updates without developer support.

Challenges and Design Solutions

1. Booking-First UX

Prioritized direct booking with clear CTAs, simplified navigation, and high-visibility availability prompts throughout the site.

2. Gateway Positioning

Emphasized proximity to Capitol Reef National Park through messaging, imagery, and location-driven content sections.

3. Platform Migration

Rebuilt the site in Webflow to improve performance, scalability, and ease of maintenance for the internal team.
